As for Kyoko’s working as an educator, it is an unstable part time job. And tutoring is so as well. After summer vacation, students preparing for universities and high schools begin to learn in cram schools or from tutors. After passing entrance exams, the number of Kyoko’s students is decreasing rapidly.
Once she considered that she might open her own cram school. But there already being some cram schools in the town, she could not expect students to enter her new cram school.
Furthermore, she has been afraid to allow someone from the outside world into her home; even junior high school or high school students, as it is clear that they put stresses on Saori, which might lead to breaking of her health balance.
After thinking this way and that, Kyoko has judged that the most important thing is Saori’s health. In this way, Kyoko has been content with her present work.
However, it has been absolutely impossible for them to live on only her income so she has utilized savings to make up for the deficit of living expenses.
She also thought of changing jobs before. But it was difficult for her to find a better job than that of the education field because she was not young and their residence was in the country side. If she worked full-time in an office with a fixed salary, her wage would be lower than the present work because their area’s minimum wage is very low.
